Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced and passionate South Indian Cook to join a reputed restaurant, hotel, or catering company overseas. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in preparing authentic South Indian dishes while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and customer satisfaction.
The candidate should be capable of working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, following recipes consistently, and supporting the kitchen team in daily food preparation and service.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare authentic South Indian breakfast items such as Idli, Dosa, Vada, Pongal, Upma, Poori, and Appam.
- Cook a variety of South Indian meals including Sambar, Rasam, Kurma, Poriyal, Kootu, Kuzhambu, Biryani, and Rice varieties.
- Prepare chutneys, gravies, curries, and spice mixes according to standard recipes.
- Ensure food is prepared with consistent taste, quality, and presentation.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen as per food safety standards.
- Monitor food inventory and report stock shortages to the kitchen supervisor.
- Properly store ingredients and food items to maintain freshness.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Follow health, safety, and sanitation regulations at all times.
- Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure timely food preparation during busy service hours.
- Minimize food wastage through proper planning and portion control.
- Assist in menu planning and introduce new South Indian dishes when required.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of authentic South Indian cuisine.
- Experience in preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain consistency in food quality.
- Basic understanding of inventory management.
Qualifications
- Minimum High School education preferred.
- Certificate or Diploma in Culinary Arts is an advantage.
- Food Safety or Hygiene Certification is an added benefit.
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a South Indian Cook in a restaurant, hotel, catering service, or cloud kitchen.
- Overseas experience is preferred but not mandatory.
